Tales of Destiny

Tales of Destiny was booed and hissed by the press so much. After playing through it, I really can't see why. It reminds me of the SNES' RPG glory days.

Tales follows the story of Stahn. Stahn seeks adventure, finds adventure, and defeats evil people. Throughout the majority of the game, you'll be forced to recover that ultimate weapon Eye of Atomni that was stolen. You must bring it back to the king who, yet again, loses it soon after.

ToD features some loveable 16-bit graphics. Think Secret of Mana more than Final Fantasy 3. The music wasn't that great, but I was able to stomach it easily.

I think the only problem area for ToD is its combat system. Not to say that it's horrible, it's just the fact that you only get so much control over Stahn's companions. You can turn off spells and techniques, however, which does conserve a lot of that magical/technical/whatever energy. This isn't a huge problem, seeing as how you'll spend half the time running back and forth defeating enemies while said NPCs just stand there.

Even with those combat problems, ToD is a cool game. Although, I would've loved support for up to 4 players. Now that would've been cool.
