Mitochondria are the respiration centers in our cells. It has, since the beginning of time, been evolving along with humans. At least it has in Parasite Eve, where a being possesses a young woman and wreaks havoc on New York City. The possessed woman is able to set aflame any human thanks to its control of their mitochondria. As Aya, a young detective with the ability to stop this being, known as Eve; you set out to save human kind.

In Parasite Eve, you use good old fashioned weapons like handguns, assault riffles, and rocket launchers in a combat system that reminds me of the SNES' Chrono Trigger, except for the fact that you can roam around the battle area freely.

While I've heard a few complaints about Parasite Eve, such as the 10 hours it takes to defeat the game without taking on the Chrysler Building in EX Mode, which opens after you beat the game; Parasite Eve is worth your money. If you are still uneasy about buying this game, just rent it and complete it.
